Refectory table runner
Eleven feet of plain weave for a table that seats sixteen. The indigo was dipped eight times; the last two dips are what give the edges their depth under candlelight.

A few commissions we were allowed to photograph.

The brief was to cut the afternoon glare without darkening the room. A loose wool warp with a silk weft reads almost sheer at noon and closes up as the light drops.
Thrown over five weeks. The glaze is made from ash off the studio stove, so no two firings match exactly — the client asked for that rather than in spite of it.
Six pots, unglazed, left to weather. They were buried to the rim for a season before delivery so the clay would take on the colour of the ground they stand in.

We take a handful each season, and prefer to see the room first.
